This volume is a summary of the knowledge of the herpetofauna of the Sierra Tarahumara of Chihuahua, Mexico. The intent of this book is to showcase Mexican's regions less known herpetologically and to raise awareness of the troubles that need to be dealt with on distribution, geographic variation, natural history and aslo the composition of the amphibian and reptilian fauna of the area. This book will also provide a basis for future work. It identifies the sizeable number of new records that remain to be ascertained. The present checklist of amphibians and reptiles is expected to surge significantly. This book is aimed at a broader audience - there are Spanish and English versions available. There is a decent amount of color photos of the speices that live the Sierra Tarahumara of Chihuahua. These are accompanied with text containing identification keys to help with the recognition of the species detailed. The introduction divulges the current rank of data of the composition of the herpetofauna of the area. It alsorevises the history of its growth, and gives an overview of the physiographic, geologic, climatic and hydrological characteristics of the Sierra Tarahumara. After the introduction, a great majority of this book is composed of identification keys, color photos, descriptions, and details of distribution, natural history, taxonomy, nomenclatural etymology, protection status and also references for each species.
