Peter J Stafford works as a research scientist and curtor in the Department of Botany at the Natural History Museum in London. A keen naturalist, he has pursued an active interest in reptiles and amphibians since early childhood and has published regularly on the subject of herpetology. Recently he has developed a special interest in the World Tropics.

Robert W. Henderson is curator of herpetlogy at the Milwaukee Public Museum. He is the author of more than 120 technical articles on amphibian and or reptile biology and has co authored or edited many other books on reptiles. Primarily interested in snakes, his research ahs also included field work on amphibians and other reptiles. For the past 15 years he has concentrated on West Indian fauna, visiting more than 40 islands in his search for snakes.
