The lizards of New Zealand by Charles McCann.

 

This is a facsimile reprint of McCann's Lizards of New Zealand, a monographic treatment of the geckos and skinks of New Zealand originally published in 1955. The original publication is accompanied by an introduction including a biography and herpetological bibliography of Charles McCann as well as an update to New Zealand lizard taxonomy and an evaluation of the contributions of McCann and his monograph to New Zealand herpetology. Re-published for the Ninth World Congress of Herpetology, 5-10 January 2020, Dunedin, New Zealand.

Born Yule Mervyn Charles McCann in 1899. His early research was botanical. In 1921 he became the assistant curator of the Bombay Natural History Society. He is the author of hundreds of papers in the fields of botany and zoology, made extensive herptetological collections for museums, many still surving today.
